Barely two days after the fire outbreak at the Basse SOS Village during which the director’s apartment was destroyed, the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) through its URR regional disaster management office Tuesday donated valuable items to the victims. The donated items included a complete bed set, second hand clothing, bleach, buckets and children wears. The items were handed over to the beneficiaries at the Regional Disaster Management Office in Basse Mansajang.

Presenting the items, Mawdo Amadou Jallow, regional disaster management coordinator in URR said the donation is part his office’s support to the victims who lost all their belongings during the unfortunate fire incident. He expressed sympathy with the victims, most of whom are children, and called on other institutions and departments to assist them. He advised people to be mindful of fire outbreaks, stressing that the NDMA cannot give support to everyone affected by disasters of such nature.

Receiving the items, Henry Mendy, the director of Basse SOS Village thanked NMDA through the regional disaster management coordinator, Mawdo Amadou Jallow for the timely and useful assistance. He acknowledged that the items will greatly help them in their present situation, while calling for more support from the general public.
