BCC vice chairman tasks Basse Zone Committee

 Modou Kuto Jaiteh, vice chairperson of the Basse Coaches’ committee (BCC) who also doubles as the head coach of Basse United has called on the community’s sub-zone sports committee to amicably settle the controversy surrounding the zone’s2010 football finals. The controversy still rages on as who between T-Junction United of Basse and Manju United of Mansajang is the rightful winner after the game was abandoned following a fracas.

The rescheduled fixture was boycotted by the former almost a week ago. Unimpressed with the outcome of the verdict, Kuto Jaiteh in a exclusive chart with this reporter tasked the committee to call for an emergency meeting in order to lay out plans for this year’s Nawettan, suggesting that it can even be in the Ramadan. According to him, the committee needs to be more credible in the way it executes its duties, saying it has failed them because they were not expecting such.

He however commended the committee for raising some funds through the people of Basse living abroad for last year’s tournament even though all the teams that participated contributed some amount. But the question that many people ask is whether any tournament can take place when the winner of last year’s final is yet to be determined.Therefore the national sports council’s intervention is needed to settle this problem if they want to see any brighter future for sports in Basse and avoid disunity.
